INSTALLING AND OPENING TANOOKI DESKTOP (MAC)
============================================

You only need the setup steps once. It takes a couple of minutes.

STEP 1 - INSTALL
----------------

1. Double-click "Tanooki Desktop_0.1.7_aarch64.dmg".

2. In the window that opens, drag Tanooki Desktop onto the
   Applications folder.

3. Close the window and eject the disk image (click the eject
symbol next to it in a Finder sidebar).

STEP 2 - CLEAR THE SECURITY WARNING
-----------------------------------

macOS blocks apps it didn't get from the App Store, so the first
time it may say the app is "damaged". It isn't - this step clears
Apple's warning.

1. Open Terminal: click the magnifying-glass (search) icon at the
top-right of your screen, type Terminal, and press Return.
A white or black window opens.

2. Copy the line below exactly (all on one line):

   xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Tanooki Desktop.app"

3. Click into the Terminal window, paste the line (Command + V),
   and press Return.

4. Nothing visible happens - that's normal. It worked. You can
   now close Terminal.

STEP 3 - OPEN THE APP
---------------------

1. Open your Applications folder and find Tanooki Desktop.

2. Double-click it to open. It should now launch with no warning.

(If it still shows a warning, right-click the app instead,
choose Open, then click Open in the box. You only need to do
   this once.)

STEP 4 - KEEP IT HANDY (OPTIONAL)
---------------------------------

While the app is open, right-click its icon in the Dock, then
choose Options > Keep in Dock. It'll stay there so you can launch
it with one click next time.

Any trouble, send me a screenshot of what you see and I'll sort it.

Note: this version is for Apple Silicon Macs (M1/M2/M3 and newer).
It won't run on an older Intel Mac.
